New Energy Reporting Requirements


New legislation passed by the State of Texas requires that municipal utility districts among other entities in the state begin an initiative to reduce energy consumption by 5% or more annually for the next six years. The board of MCUD is working to meet this requirement and planning is underway to identify possibly efficiencies in the district’s operations as well as reduce consumption where possible.

This new legislation also requires that the district post its annual electric consumptions and the related costs. MCUD joined an aggregate power provider several years ago to enjoy the savings of a larger consuming group of districts.
